…So roll your windows down, grab yourself a couple FREE tracks from the album and have a look at what others are saying…

“The tracklist here is evocative of a jukebox in one of said dives, ranging from moving Americana to full-throated rock and roll to foot-stompin’ honky-tonk. Best played in a motel with a weekly rate.” – Jason Bracelin, Las Vegas Review Journal

“Lost Vegas Hiway follows a handful of disparate dreamers and down-and-outers” – Richard Skanse, Lone Star Music Magazine

“Jeff Mix captures the lowdown Vegas vibe. The human condition. Universal. Life, at street level. Pure.”-Gurf Morlix

A conman in Vegas? Yep. Jeff crossed paths with a guy on the run from Phoenix who squeezed $283 out of him. This experience inspired Jeff to write these songs and the line regarding Sidney, “Got a tongue like the devil and a mouth full of lies.” Jeff imagined him in his motel room coming up with the scams and thought it’d be cool to write an entire album around shady characters at a dive motel.  The album was recorded in Las Vegas and Austin, mixed in Nashville and mastered in LA. Throw in a couple of Grammy winners for good measure, you’ve got one hell of a project. The album was mastered by Pete Lyman (Isbell, Stapleton) as well as Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams) producing a track.  In short, if you’re a fan of Springsteen, Isbell or Petty, and well written songs, then the debut album from Jeff Mix and The Songhearts is a must have for your collection.

These songs are all told from the first person perspective of the down and out guests of the seedy, Gateway Motel. The prostitute, the motel manager, the con man, the musician who’s on the road with a heartache. It put’s you, the listener, in their shoes for the night to see how the other half lives.
